Bio:

I have always been involved with motor cars and then race cars.

Before and during my teens, I worked with my father in a backyard workshop building and repairing trucks, cars and trailers.

I served my apprenticeship at Comsteel as a fitter and turner for 5 years, and by my retirement after 34 years with the company, I held a senior position, where I ran their heavy machine bay and was responsible for 57 foremen and workers, as well as purchasing and developing new machines and their tooling.

My first car was purchased from a wrecking yard and rebuilt by me over 12 mths and in which I got my permit and licence.

I have fully restored and rebuilt several cars and made many trailers since these early years, and fully built a road registered kit car for a friend.

I have raced dune buggies and off-road racing buggies of which I fully built the racing cars and motors, as well as maintaining them.

After being very successful in a national team with Yokohama, and winning the Bridgestone International off-road race in 1987, I decided to retire from racing to allow my son, Ben, to race karts.

Once again, I built his and many other peoples motors and set up theirs and our karts. Ben has won over 150 trophies, as well as some title events.

When Ben was 13, I purchased an old Formula Ford for him to start hill climbing and had to assemble the car from the ground up. Ben was very successful in this as he won his class and 2nd outright in 1994 NSW Hillclimb Championships (9 rounds) at 15 years of age. The motor was built by me from several boxes of bits (Lotus twin cam).

In 1995, we purchased a 1988 Reynard Formula Ford and with our preparation and engine building, Ben came 4th in NSW state titles and 2nd in the Pre-90 category in his first year.

I have assisted Wayne Russell with his Group A V8 supercar, in purchasing and setting up the car with his helpers, showing them how to set up and align the car. When he was having problems with motors, I built one for him, did his gearboxes and managed his team in 1994 at Bathurst.

In summing up, I have had a lot of experience in preparing and maintaining racing cars, I supervised machine shops in the metal trades, I had a home business where I built racing motors, machining and welding, repairs and maintenance on the race cars and design and manufacture of special components. I feel, with my experience, I will be an asset to any motor venture.
