Contact: Brad Gower Bio: For season 2006 Icon has expanded into a new category, Production Sportscars. Icon has purchased 2 Series 6 Mazda RX7’s, the first of which appeared at Round 4 of the NSW Championships at Oran Park on 29 & 30 July in the hands of team member Brad Gower. Adorned with racing number 41 the silver RX7, and Brad, exceeded all expectations by earning a clean sweep of results in what was the first ever race meeting for the car and the driver. Brad qualified for and completed all 3 races on the weekend and the car performed flawlessly, ending the weekend without a scratch or a mechanical fault. Brad satisfied a lifelong ambition to go motor racing with his debut at Oran Park. His on track experience has been limited to Drive Days and a handful of road rallies. Whilst confessing to being nervous prior to the start of the weekend, Brad spent most of the time with an ear to ear grin mumbling “How good is this?”. The plan is for Brad to compete in the balance of the NSW Championship rounds in addition to the CUE Enduro series 1 hour races at Eastern Creek, Queensland Raceway and Philip Island. The second RX7, a red one, will be prepared for the interstate enduro races and then both cars will be a valuable addition to the Corporate Day Packages offered by Icon, before being updated and prepared for an all out assault on the NSW Championship in 2007 |
