Despite not achieving a top 5 result, Stubbies Workwear Racing (SWR) team driver Dane Rudolph was content with his performance during the sixth and final round of the NSW Formula Ford series at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway last weekend (September 24 & 25) after recording finishes consistently inside the top 10.

“Although we didn’t get the desired top 5 result, we still came away with three top 10 results, which was great,” expressed Rudolph. “Our speed was improving throughout the weekend and by the third race the car was awesome and the dramas that we had encountered were ironed out, which is testament to the hard work of the entire SWR Team.”
The weekend didn’t get off to the best of starts for the SWR team, when Rudolph was only able to manage a handful of laps in Friday’s practice sessions. However, despite this setback Rudolph the following day in official qualifying was able to record the 10th quickest lap time, a 1:40.5607.
“Earlier in the weekend we battle an under steering problem, along with the carburetor issue from the previous round, so that didn’t help me in qualifying or race one and two for that matter,” explained Rudolph. “The team did a wonderful job sorting the car out and by the third race it was great, although it was just a shame that we didn’t have this performance at the beginning of the weekend.”
After qualifying 10th, Rudolph in his # 72 Stubbies Workwear supported Spectrum 09B placed 10th in the opening race on Saturday afternoon, and back it up with a pair of eighth placings in race two and three.
“Our lap times indicate that we were getting stronger as the weekend progressed and it is certainly a good way to finish off the series,” Rudolph commented. “This year’s series has seen us endure a lot of highs and lows, but our team has stuck together and that proves the character and the strength of the SWR team.”
At the completion of the six rounds of the NSW series, Rudolph finished ninth overall in the point standings with a tally of 194.
“I have enjoyed this year very much as I have progressed as a driver. The SWR team is a very professional outfit and I’m glad to have had the opportunity to be a part of it,” said Rudolph. “Our results haven’t really mirrored our initial goals at the beginning of the year, but in saying that we have had a lot of fun along the way and learnt a lot.”
