Building up the momentum:
By: Stubbies Workwear Racing
Dane Rudolph and his Stubbies Workwear Racing (SWR) team head into this weekends (July 30 & 31) fourth round of the NSW Formula Ford Series at Oran Park Raceway with added enthusiasm after a productive testing session at the circuit earlier this month.
After his strongest performance this year, which saw the SWR team register Top 10 finishes in all three races in round three of the NSW series in June, Rudolph returned to the Western Sydney track for the test session and tried a few different setups with the # 72 Stubbies Workwear Racing backed Spectrum 09B.
“We came away from the recent test session very pleased with the outcome,” said 19-year-old Rudolph. “Back in round three we needed to improve the cars handling out of the corners and we tried a few different spring settings in order to solve the drama on the challenging layout.”
Throughout the test session, Rudolph recorded respectable lap times and hopes to carry that momentum into round four of the NSW series in order to move higher up in the point standings where he is currently placed ninth.
“Our main aim is to build on the knowledge that we learnt from our test day and I am confident that we can do this,” commented Rudolph. “I know our engine package is strong, but we just need to get a better grip on the handling of the car and I am sure that our team will make another step forward this weekend to achieving that.”
In terms of weekend goal, results wise, Rudolph would like to be somewhere within the Top 5 placings at the completion of the round and says that qualifying will be the key to achieving this.
“I realistically believe that we can get within the Top 5 and our progression so far this year indicates that too,” he said. “Qualifying is going to be vital and you need to be somewhere within the first three rows to be in with a good shot. The entire mood throughout the SWR Team is upbeat for this weekend and everyone is hopeful of a strong outcome.”
This weekend’s fourth round of the NSW Series will commence with practice on Friday, followed by qualifying and race 1 on the Saturday and then race 2 and 3 on Sunday.
